11.29.10 | Recently, Tedeschi Food Shops President and CEO Peter Tedeschi spoke at the New England Convenience Store Association (NECSA) 2010 Annual Meeting & Networking Luncheon. Peter addressed the members of NECSA regarding the benefits of working together to improve the convenience store industry as a whole.
Coming to Tedeschi Food Shops from the finance industry only three years ago, Peter noticed something unique about convenience stores: although competition is strong, competitors don’t hesitate to work together to address major issues. Information and progress is shared openly among c-store companies; as Peter put it, “a rising tide lifts all boats”.
Currently, convenience stores are faced with some obstacles to overcome – “sin taxes” that are being imposed upon alcohol, tobacco, and snacks; employment and fuel legislation that is detrimental to business; and the struggle to introduce fresh, healthy products to the convenience industry. Singularly, it’s tough to make a dent in these issues – but with a united front, convenience stores can make a difference in the way things are done.
Tedeschi’s is proud that innovation has always been a part of our culture and we will continue working with our peers to serve you better. Keep your ideas and criticism coming; we rely on your input to make the changes that help us succeed. You can find comment cards in each TFS store, give us some feedback here, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter to share what’s on your mind. Before coming to Tedeschi’s, Peter was intrigued at the thought of working with employees who feel like family; now he knows that our customers feel like family, too.
